The Graphic Design and Visual Communication Program approaches design and multimedia from a problem-solving point of view by offering training in the production of visual communications.
Graphic Design incorporates the elements of design, computer design principles, typography and color theory. The program also includes presentation skills and critiquing of projects such as logo design, corporate identity packages, posters, tickets, brochures, newsletters, ads, CD/DVD design packages, creative term projects and more using Adobe Creative Suite software.
Digital Photography and Video Production incorporates skills learned in lighting, camera prep, sound, videotaping and editing footage from conceptually developed storyboards to final DVD for projects such as TV broadcasts, advertisements and commercials using Final Cut Pro software.
The students will also be trained in working with real customers by conceptualizing ideas and translating them into electronic and digitally printed images and products. The students' professionalism will be reflected not only in their visual and computer graphic skills, but in their portfolio building and their training in the resume, interview and job search workshop.
Because of the variety of skills the students will be learning, beginning with an initial client meeting, to developing design concepts and creating a successful visual or printed product, students will become more marketable for college or job placement for careers in industries such as multimedia based entertainment, print graphic design, digital video editing, television broadcasting or more.
